Der Bariton Rudolf Rosen, geboren in Bern/Schweiz, erhielt
- nach dem Abitur und Studien der Kunstgeschichte - seine
Gesangsausbildung an der Musikhochschule Bern bei Prof.
Jakob Stämpfli, anschließend bei Juliette Bise.
1997 wurde er Preisträger des Internationalen Musikwettbewerbs
in Genf (CIEM), 1998 des Internationalen Musikwettbewerbs
der ARD in München und 1999 des Belvedere Gesangswettbewerbs
in Wien.
Seine Konzert - und Operntätigkeiten führten
und führen ihn seitdem in viele Konzertsäle
und Opernhäuser Europas und Japans, unter der Leitung
von namhaften Dirigenten wie z.B. Christoph Eschenbach,
Neeme Järvi, John Nelson, Dimitrij Kitajenko, Michel
Corboz, René Jacobs, Lothar Zagrosek, Heinz Holliger
und Helmuth Rilling.
2001-2004 war der junge Bariton Ensemblemitglied der Staatsoper
Stuttgart, wo er in der Neuenfels-Neuproduktion mit großem
Erfolg die Titelrolle im DON GIOVANNI sang sowie u.a.
auch den Papageno in der Konwitschny-Inszenierung der
ZAUBERFLÖTE und den Grafen im LE NOZZE DI FIGARO,
mit dem er auch 2005 am Théâtre de Champs
Elysée in Paris und 2006/2007 in Bern gastierte.
Neben seiner Opern- und Konzerttätigkeit widmet sich
Rudolf Rosen immer wieder gerne dem Liedgesang.

Baritone
Rudolf Rosen was born in Berne, Switzerland. He received
his musical training at the Berne Academy of Music, where
he was a student of Prof. Jakob Stämpfli and Juliette
Bise. He also attended master classes by Jenö Sipos,
Edith Mathis and Irwin Gage. A recipient of various study
awards such as e.g. the Ernst-Göhner endowment (Migros/CH)
Rudolf Rosen has given concerts in many European concert
halls: Den Gamle Logen, Oslo; Liederhalle Stuttgart; Gewandhaus
Leipzig; the Munich Residence; the Munich Prinzregententheater,
Tonhalle Zurich; Victoria Hall, Geneva. He has also sung
overseas, e.g. at the Sala Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico City,
and in Tel Aviv, Israel, with conductors like Christoph
Eschenbach, Neeme Järvi, John Nelson, Dimitrij Kitajenko,
Michel Corboz and Helmut Rilling.
Song recitals, both at home and abroad, are an integral
part of Rudolf Rosen's career. He sang e.g. at the Festivals
of Heilbronn and Salzburg in 1996 and 1997, and he has
participated both in the concert series "Freunde
des Liedes" in Zurich and the Leipzig International
Festival of Chamber Music.
Rudolf Rosen has been awarded several prizes of high
renown, e.g. at the 53rd International Music Competition
in Geneva (DIEM) in 1997, at the 47th International
ARD Music Competition in Munich in 1998, and also at
the Belvedere Song Competition in Vienna, which led
to a concert engagement with José Carreras.
Following an extensive career as Lied and oratorio
singer Rudolf Rosen wants to devote himself more to
the operatic repertoire. With the beginning of the season
2001/02 Rudolf Rosen joined the opera company of the
Stuttgart Staatstheater.
In May 2002 he interpreted there with much acclaim
his first Don Giovanni in Stuttgart's new Neuenfels
production. He appeared furthermore in Stuttgart`s new
production FINTA GIARDINIERA. With the Westdeutscher
Rundfunk Köln Rudolf Rosen sang his first concert
performance of Bluebeard (Bartok), in Lissabon he appeared
in Bach's Christmas Oratorio. He does a lot of concert
work all over Europe. Among his most recent engagements
are another series of DON GIOVANNI, his debuts in NOZZE
DI FIGARO/count and in ZAUBERFLÖTE/Papageno, FINTA
GIARDINIERA and ZAUBERFLÖTE at the Stuttgart Staatstheater,
a new production PAGLIACCI at the New National Theatre
Tokyo.
Future engagements include Count in FIGRO at the Théâtre
des Champs-Elysées Paris. Rudolf Rosen will return
to the New National Theatre Tokyo in a new production
of COSI as Guglielmo/ and as Posa in DON CARLO in 2006.
